[21] And there, the water in that serpent's lake surged up a hundred bow-lengths. And that should not be considered wondrous for him, who possesses limitless strength as the fruit of the power of King Nanda's austerities; for by him, though his form was not overly ferocious on account of his childhood, that very body appeared exceedingly formidable, like ten million fierce suns, to the hooded serpents there. And then, scraped by the friction of the roar of water churning from his arms that whirled like the stride of a rampaging divine elephant, the serpent king—his company unable to bear that supremacy—suddenly, with the radiance of fire, approached him who was showering smiles out of delight in sport within the interior of his own playground island, who bore lightning in his yellow garment, whose hands, feet, and lips were red mines of beauty, who bore the rainbow of Indra in his forest garland, and who was like a charming dark cloud.
