durnimittam udabhūd balaṃ vinā
hā yayau viṣa-diśaṃ balānujaḥ |
hanta pūrṇa-samayaḥ sa nāyayau
goṣṭha-rāṭ katham ihāsti nirvṛtaḥ? || [svāgatā] iti |
"An ill omen has appeared without Balarāma;
alas, the younger brother of Balarāma has gone in the direction of the poison!
Alas, the appointed time has passed, and he has not returned;
how can the king of the settlement remain here at ease?" ||8
