viṣa-hradāntād vinivartitāś ca te
pratīyur evādhi tad-ātmanaḥ sthitim |
yat kāla-kūṭa-jvalanāntaraṅgataṃ
svaṃ menire vīkṣya tad-antare harim || [upajāti 12]

Turned back from the edge of the poisoned pool,
they realized the true state of their own souls;
for seeing Hari inside that [pool], immersed in the fire of deadly venom,
they thought their very selves were plunged within it.
