kāliya-hradam ite baka-śatrau
gokulasya rudataḥ pratiśabdāt |
rodasī ca rudatī sva-niruktiṃ
bāḍham ajñapayatāṃ rudasijbhyām || [svāgatā]
When the enemy of Baka entered the pool of Kāliya,
from the echoing wails of weeping Gokula,
heaven and earth too, weeping, firmly demonstrated
their own etymology through tears.
