sat-puṇyair iha khalu kais tvad-aṅghri-padma-
sparśo' yaṃ parivalate bhujaṅga-rāje |
duṣpāpair api bata kair amuṣya dehas
tad-bhāvaṃ druta-mṛti-lambhāya vetti || [praharṣiṇī]
By what good merits in this world, indeed, / does this touch of your lotus foot come to the king of serpents? / And alas, by what sins difficult to atone does his body / perceive that touch as bringing swift death?"
