[73] atra prathamā prakṛtiḥ pradhānam, dvitīyā svarūpa-śaktiḥ | tattvāni mahad-ādīni aṃśāḥ,

[73] Here, the first 'nature' is the unmanifest material nature, the second is the intrinsic energy. The principles are the cosmic intellect and the rest. The portions are: / 'Knowledge, power, strength, sovereignty, virility, and splendor in their entirety, / denoted by the word 'Bhagavat', devoid of base qualities and the like,' / as stated in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa. 'Of those perfected over many births' indicates his status as spoken of in the Śrī Bhagavad-gītā: 'Many births of mine and of yours have passed, O Arjuna.' 'Indeed the husband' means that the occasional appearance of paramourship is merely illusory. And the word 'vā' ('or') is intended to make known that this alone is the final conclusion.
