iti viṣṇu-purāṇoktāḥ [ViP 6.5.79] | aneka-janma-siddhānāṃ iti, bahūni me vyatītāni janmāni tava cārjuna [Gītā 4.5] iti śrī-bhagavad-gītā-vadanāditvam eva bodhayati, patir eva iti kadācid upapatitva-vyavahāras tu māyika evety arthaḥ | vā-śabdas tv asyaivottara-pakṣatā-bodhanāya |
—as stated in the Viṣṇu Purāṇa. The phrase "of those perfected over many births" conveys only the fact that [these births] were spoken of in the Śrīmad Bhagavad-gītā: "Many births of mine have passed, and of yours, O Arjuna." The words "truly the husband" mean that any treatment of Him as a paramour at times is merely illusory. Moreover, the word "or" (vā) is meant to indicate that this is the final conclusion.
