[56] punaś ca teṣāṃ bhāvāntaraṃ vibhāvya sva-kartṛka-dhāraṇam apy ardham aṅgīkṛtya bhaṇati sma-
mātar mantraṇayā mā māṃ nivartayata sattamāḥ |
udasto yena tad-dhastād dhvastaḥ syād girirāṭ katham? || [anuṣṭubh]

[56] And perceiving another feeling in them, accepting in part their belief that he was the sole holder [and might tire], he said:
“O mother, O best of men, do not turn me back by your counsel!
How could the king of mountains fall from the hand of him by whom he was lifted up?” ||
