[60] kṛṣṇaḥ sahāsam- āha sma, "mātar, na te pretajātitām avāptāḥ | kintu, bhavaccaraṇareṇugaṇaguṇitabhūmim anu maraṇapratāpavargād apavargam eva gatāḥ | vayaṃ tu māyāmayatatpratikṛtiprapañcasañcayam añcantaḥ sukhasantānāya madhye madhye līlām adhyasyāmaḥ; yathā nilāyanaiḥ setubandhair markaṭotplavanādibhiḥ kauśalyeyalīlām |"

[60] Kṛṣṇa said with a smile, "Mother, they have not entered the race of ghosts. Rather, on the earth multiplied by the dust of your feet, through the fiery power of dying they have attained liberation itself. As for us, displaying an array of magical imitations of them, we only perform pastimes now and then for the continuity of joy; just as we play the sports of Kauśalyā’s son [Rāma] by hiding, building causeways, and leaping like monkeys."
