[60] atha tad etad evam avadhāritavatyaḥ kātyāyanī-vratavatyas tad etan manasi vicāritavyaḥ-hanta, yad asmābhir manasi rañjitaṃ, tad evāyaṃ vyañjitaṃ kartuṃ prayatate | tasmād asmākam ayam eva samayaḥ | kintu kim api lakṣyam evātra lakṣyam, tad api svata eva labdham yat pṛthu-śīta-bhītatādikam atra prakaṭam eva ghaṭate |

[60] Then, realizing this fact in this way, those who observed the vow to Kātyāyanī reflected thus in their minds: "Oh, what we cherished in our hearts, that very thing he is trying to bring to light! Therefore, this is the very moment for us. But here some pretext must be shown, and even that is obtained naturally, since our extreme shivering from cold and the like is openly occurring here."
