etāvantaṃ diṣṭam ajñāsiṣaṃ na
preyaḥ-saṅgāt kintv idānīṃ tad ūhe |
preyān sarvāḥ projjhya mām eva ramyāṃ
saṅgamyāntaḥ-kānanaṃ yan nināya || [śālinī]
'I did not know such great good fortune / from the company of my beloved, but now I deduce it; / since the beloved, leaving all the others, united with me alone, / charming as I am, and led me into the interior of the forest.'
