kila kalābalāt tac ca kalpanam |
vayam anārataṃ sneha-bhāvanāḥ
katham ayāmahe jātu kāmanāḥ? ||
That which you imagined as lust / was indeed a fiction born of the power of cleverness; / how could we, whose thoughts are constantly filled with affection, / ever fall into lust? //
