tataś ca-
paścād alpaṃ tāla-yugmaṃ gṛhītvā
gāyantau dvau pārśvayor maḍḍu-vijñau |
śrotā bhrātā yasya savyetarāgre
so' yaṃ vaktā sarvam uccair didhinva ||

And then:
Taking a pair of small cymbals behind him,
while two men skilled in the maḍḍu drum sang on either side,
and his brother, the listener, was in front on his right,
this speaker gave immense delight to all. ||
