[47] snigdhakaṇṭha uvāca-kathaṃ tat-preṣṭhāḥ putreṣṭyādikaṃ nānuṣṭhāpitavantaḥ ? kathaṃ vā vidagdhayor api tayoḥ sandigdhatā jātā | tathāpi parameśa-parayoḥ kathantarāṃ vā tad-āśā ? uttaratas tu viśeṣataḥ kathantamām ?

Snigdhakaṇṭha said: "Why did those dearest to him not have a sacrifice for a son and the like performed? Or how did doubt arise for the two of them, even though they were wise? Still, how could there be such a desire for those devoted to the Supreme Lord? And how could it be so especially later on?"
