pitrādi-pratirūpa-rūpa-vasudevādi-pratīghātajād-
duḥkhāt kaṃsa-vināśanārtham agamaṃ śīghrāṃ nivṛttiṃ vidan |
tatrāsīt suhṛdāṃ manoratha-tatir yuddhāyatir durhṛdāṃ
caivaṃ tad-vyasanaṃ samāpya yadi ca prāgāṃ kva vā yāmy aham || iti |

'From the grief born of the obstruction of Vasudeva and others, who have the form of a father and such, / I went to destroy Kaṃsa, knowing a swift return. / There, the wishes of friends were an ongoing battle with foes; / and if, having thus ended that trouble, I have returned, where indeed am I to go?'
