bakī-ripoḥ kaṃsa-jaye'pi siddhe
śaṅkemahi svārtha-vinaṣṭim etām |
bhaved asau yādava-rājadhānyāṃ
rājeti goṣṭhe katham atra tiṣṭhet ? ||
‘Even though the enemy of Bakī’s victory over Kaṃsa is certain,
we fear this loss of our own interest:
if He becomes king in the capital of the Yādavas,
how could He remain here in the cowherd settlement?
