grāmīṇā vayam iha gopa-varga-kanyā
nāgaryaḥ puram anu santi rāja-putryaḥ
kṛṣṇas tu grahila-manā guṇeṣu tasmād
asyāntaḥ katham iva naḥ pratismṛtiḥ syāt ? ||

Here we are rustic daughters of cowherds;
in the city there are sophisticated princesses.
Kṛṣṇa’s mind is captivated by qualities; therefore,
how could there be any remembrance of us in His heart?
