mūrkhatvaṃ nirghṛṇatvaṃ hari-haraṇam iha krauryam akrūra-nāmnā
sarveṣāṃ buddhi-lopaṃ śakuna-subhagatā-kalpanaṃ cātra kṛtye |
dhātuḥ paśyeti śaśvad vikalita-vacasām ārya-goṣṭhī-gatānāṃ
dhīrāṇām apy amūṣāṃ bhrama-janita-daśā hanta māṃ dandahīti ||

'Stupidity, pitilessness, the abduction of Hari here, cruelty under the name of Akrūra, / loss of everyone's wits, and the reckoning of good omens for such a deed— / alas, see the creator's doing!'—the condition born of confusion in these steady women, / whose words were perpetually broken as they joined the elder ladies, severely burns me! //
