[2] atha rātrāv avaśiṣṭa-svalpa-mātrāyāṃ yātrā-mātrāyām api pātrācita-gātrāyāṃ rāma-bhrātrā racitena pūtanādi-vadhācaritena sambaddhā virudāvalyaḥ prābalyataḥ stutikṛtdbhiḥ prastutim āpitāḥ sarvān eva garvād utsāhayāmāsuḥ | vartatāṃ tāvad anyeṣāṃ vārtā, yatra tat-pitarau ca kaṃsa-dhvaṃsanam api siddham iti matvā nanditarau vandibhyaḥ kṛta-bahu-dhana-vitarau
babhūvatuḥ |

[2] Now, when only a tiny fraction of the night remained, and the preparations for departure had their forms arranged with suitable provisions, the panegyrists forcefully recited series of praises connected to the slaying of Pūtanā and other deeds performed by Rāma’s brother, inspiring everyone with pride and enthusiasm. To say nothing of others, His two parents, considering that the destruction of Kaṃsa was already accomplished, became overjoyed and made bountiful distributions of wealth to the bards.
