śauryam eva puruṣasya bhūṣaṇaṃ
yatra heyam api yāti geyatām |
danti-rakta-mada-bindavas tanuṃ
kaṃsa-saṃsadi tayor arūrucan || (rathoddhatā)
Prowess alone is the ornament of a man,
in which even what is repellent attains praiseworthiness;
the drops of the elephant's blood and rut-fluid
beautified their forms in Kaṃsa's assembly. ||
