neyaṃ dugdha-vikīrṇi-pālir api tu drāg-vāri-dhārā-gatir
neyaṃ syān navanīta-piṇḍa-visṛtir muktās tu muktāmbudāḥ |
neyaṃ dīrṇa-haridra-nīra-vikṛtiḥ kintu prabhā vidyutāṃ
parvaivedam atīva harṣa-mahasā varṣā-vapur nirmame || iti |

"This is not a cascade of milk being scattered, but a sudden fall of streams of rain; / this cannot be the casting of balls of fresh butter, but clouds discharging their pearls; / this is not a disturbance of ground-turmeric water, but the brilliance of lightning! / Indeed, this very festival, by the splendour of intense joy, has assumed the form of the rainy season!"
