"Enough of asking after your well-being here, since well-being itself becomes well-being [from your presence]; / but for the sake of their own well-being, the virtuous inquire after well-being. ||
'An inquiry after welcome is boldness toward the most exalted'—that saying is true; / yet just as it is made after worshipping the gods, so it is here. ||
Contentment by mere words is surely not proper when wealth is present; / but this applies to an incomplete object; in what is complete, nothing at all can fit. ||
A virtuous person has no regard for his own purpose, but always only for that of others; / therefore, informing him of one matter after another brings delight while he disports himself. ||
The science of astrology was composed by you, and you are proficient in the Veda; / that awaits only the happiness of others, so this is my petition: ||
The boy who has been born to me, and the one who is superior to him, the son of Vasudeva— / may you be compassionate to sprinkle each of them with the nectar of your glance!" ||
