paśyann api tṛṇāvartam apaśyann iva taṃ janaḥ |
kṛṣṇam evāgamad draṣṭuṃ tat-premā hy adbhutādijit || [anuṣṭubh]
spṛṣṭaḥ kampreṇa hastena dṛṣṭaḥ sāsreṇa cakṣuṣā |
pitrātha mātur utsaṅgād avitrā śiśur ādade || [anuṣṭubh]

Even while seeing Tṛṇāvarta, the people came only to see Kṛṣṇa, / as if not seeing the demon; for love for him conquers wonder and all else. / Touched with a trembling hand, looked upon with tearful eyes, / the infant was then taken from the mother's lap by his protective father.
