adho-mukhī-kṛtya balād udūkhalaṃ
niviśya tasyopari cañcalekṣaṇam |
kīśāya sarpir dadataṃ prasūḥ sutaṃ
vīkṣya smitaṃ prāpa tathā ca vismitam || [upajāti 12]

Turning a mortar upside down by force
and sitting atop it, his gaze darting about,
he was giving clarified butter to a monkey;
seeing her son, the mother smiled and was also astonished. ||
