karoti yo 'śeṣajanātiriktāṃ sambhāvanām arthavatīṃ kriyābhiḥ
saṃsatsu jāte puruṣādhikāre na pūraṇī taṃ samupaiti saṃkhyā //
He who by his actions makes the esteem / exceeding that of all others meaningful, / when the leadership of men is discussed in assemblies, / an ordinal number never merely serves to complete his count.
