iṣu-mati raghu-siṃhe dandaśūkāñ jighāṃsau dhanuraribhira-sahyaṃ muṣṭi-pīḍaṃ dadhāne
vrajati, pura-taruṇyo baddha-citrā'ṅgulitre kathamapi guru-śokān mā rudan māṅgalikyaḥ

As that lion of the Raghus, arrow-bearing, holding firmly in his fist the bow unbearable to foes, with wonderful archer's finger-guards bound on, / went forth desiring to kill the serpent-like [demons], the auspicious young women of the city somehow refrained from weeping out of deep sorrow.
