didṛkṣamāṇaḥ paritaḥ sa-sītaṃ rāmaṃ yadā naikṣata lakṣmaṇaṃ ca,
rorudyamānaḥ sa tadā'bhyapṛcchad, yathāvadākhyannatha vṛttamasmai.

When looking all around he did not see Rāma together with Sītā and Lakṣmaṇa, / weeping incessantly he then questioned them, and they related to him the event as it happened.
