She whose māyā has vanished in the extended, far-reaching battle, conflict—meaning free of deceptive display, engaged in open warfare—or else displaying various illusions and cosmic displays; and ah, alas, by whom among the gods and others here in this world is that unblemished, splendid, innate compassion, mercy of this Goddess not to be sung, not to be chanted? The meaning is: she is worthy of praise by all. The words 'hā' and 'bata' here both express wonder, as in 'Ah, alas, your prowess is to be envied!' And what is that mercy? It is a stream of elixir, an outflow of nectar, because of its delight-giving nature. // 9
