May Umā protect you as she slays the Asura who out of pride, that is, egotism, thus mocked Bhava, that is, Śiva. How so? "O Spear-Bearer, your sword is joined with a skull-staff. O Lord, a young woman, your wife, is also merged into half your body. Thus, through wicked conduct, bad behavior, ridicule was already obtained by you in the assembly of the gods, the council of heaven. And now again this shame in the form of flight has come from the fight, the battle. This is truly ridiculousness in full measure."
"Relief from itching against the post (Sthāṇu / Śiva) only drives [us] away; heated by the blazing heat of the Sun,
no greater pleasure was found for our limbs even by plunging into the water-place (the abode of Varuṇa)."
On the deserted battlefield, as he indeed says: "Fie upon this solitary buffalo form!"
may the life-stealing lotus foot placed upon Mahiṣa by Rudrāṇī bring you joy. || 92
