May the life-stealing lotus foot placed by Rudrāṇī upon Mahiṣa bring you joy, as he says this on the battlefield emptied by the flight of all the gods. What 'this'? "If relief from itching is sought against a post (Sthāṇu, that is, Śiva or a stake), then it drives one off, the sense being that this post is not stable. The collection of our limbs was scorched by the brilliance of the sun, yet no greater pleasure was attained by plunging into the water-place, the realm of Varuṇa; the meaning being that Varuṇa too fled. Therefore, fie upon this buffalo form!"
Crushing the buffalo who resembled the king of mountains and had shattered the pride of the gods, extremely heavy, yet becoming lighter than Śambhu's [hand], its form free from fatigue, its striking distance far to be imagined;
adverse upon the back of the gods' foe, yet bestowing welfare on the dwellers of the Golden Mountain—
her left lotus foot is irresistible, moving through varied attributes; may that Ambikā protect you. || 93
