virājam asṛjad viṣṇuḥ so 'sṛjat puruṣaṃ virāṭ
puruṣaṃ taṃ manuṃ viddhi tad vai manvantaraṃ smṛtam
dvitīyam āpavasyaitan manor antaram ucyate //
Viṣṇu emitted Virāj, and Virāj emitted the Puruṣa; / know that Puruṣa to be Manu; that is remembered as a manvantara; / this is called the second manvantara of Āpava.
