pradhānātmā purā hy eṣa brahmāṇam asṛjat prabhuḥ
so 'sṛjat pūrvapuruṣaḥ purākalpe prajāpatīn //
In ancient times, this lord, having the nature of the primary source, created Brahmā; / that first Puruṣa created the Prajāpatis in a former aeon.
