te 'nyonyaṃ nāvabudhyanta devān vā vāhanāni vā
ghoreṇa tamasāviṣṭāḥ puruhūtasya tejasā //
They could not recognize each other, nor the gods, nor the vehicles, / overwhelmed by terrible darkness through the splendor of Puruhūta.
