avadhyāś ca striyaḥ prāhus tiryagyonigateṣv api
sattveṣu pṛthivīpāla na dharmaṃ tyaktum arhasi //
"They say that females are not to be killed, even among beings
born in animal wombs, O protector of the earth; you ought not to abandon dharma.
