(prakāśam) vasantasene! kimidaṃ matsannidhau veśavāsaviruddhamabhihitam. paśya,
taruṇajanasahāyaścintyatāṃ veśavāso
vigaṇaya gaṇikā tvaṃ mārgajātā lateva .
vahasi hi dhanahāryaṃ paṇyabhūtaṃ śarīraṃ
samamupacara bhadre! supriyaṃ cāpriyaṃ ca .. 17 ..

(Aloud) Vasantasenā! Why this talk in my presence, contrary to the life of a courtesan's quarter? Consider:
Reflect on the courtesan's trade, companion to youths; / consider that you are a courtesan, like a creeper growing by the roadside. / For you carry a body that is merchandise to be bought with wealth; / treat alike, fair lady, both the very dear and the disagreeable. .. 17 ..
