Courtesan: I know that this ornament was brought by committing an outrage in his house. Let the noble sir have compassion on his virtues.
Sajjalaka: (To himself) How was I known by her?
Courtesan: Who is there? A carriage for the noble sir!
Madanikā: It sounds like the noise of wheels! The carriage must have arrived.
Courtesan: (Adorning Madanikā with her own ornaments) Let the noble sir mount the carriage with the noble lady!
Madanikā: Mistress! What is this?
Courtesan: Do not, do not speak thus! You have now become a noble lady. Take her, noble sir! (Taking Madanikā, she hands her over to Sajjalaka.)
Sajjalaka: (To himself) Ah! When can a return ever be made to her? Or rather, far be it, far be it, heaven forbid!
