3.7

etac chrutvā te pakṣiṇo māṃ hantum udyatāḥ | tato mayāpi sva-vikramo darśitaḥ | yataḥ-
anyadā bhūṣaṇaṃ puṃsaḥ kṣamā lajjeva yoṣitaḥ |
parākramaḥ paribhave vaiyātyaṃ surateṣv iva //

Hearing this, those birds prepared to kill me. Then I too showed my prowess. For:
At other times forbearance is an ornament to a man, like modesty to a woman;
In the face of an insult, prowess [is an ornament], like boldness in sexual pleasures.
