calā lakṣmīś calāḥ prāṇāś calo deho 'pi yauvanam,
calācalaś ca saṃsāraḥ, kīrtir dharmaś ca niścalaḥ. || 2 ||
Fortune is unsteady, life-breaths are unsteady, the body is unsteady, and even youth; / transient is the cycle of existence: only fame and righteousness are firm.
