1.94

namasyāmo devān nanu hatavidhes te 'pi vaśagā
vidhir vandyaḥ so 'pi pratiniyata-karmaika-phaladaḥ |
phalaṃ karmāyattaṃ yadi kim amaraiḥ kiṃ ca vidhinā
namas tat-karmabhyo vidhir api na yebhyaḥ prabhavati ||

We bow to the gods, yet they are subject to accursed fate; / fate should be revered, yet it merely grants the fruits of predetermined deeds. / If the fruit depends on karma, what need is there of the gods, and what need of fate? / Homage to those karmas over which even fate has no power!
