viśvāmitra-parāśara-prabhṛtayo vātāmbu-parṇāśanāste 'pi
strī-mukha-paṅkajaṃ sulalitaṃ dṛṣṭvaiva mohaṃ gatāḥ |
śālyannaṃ sa-ghṛtaṃ payo-dadhi-yutaṃ ye bhuñjate mānavāsteṣām
indriya-nigraho yadi bhaved vindhyaḥ plavet sāgare ||

Even Viśvāmitra, Parāśara, and others, who fed on wind, water, and dry leaves,
fell into delusion the moment they saw the lovely lotus face of a woman;
if men who feed on rice with clarified butter, milk, and curd
could restrain their senses, then the Vindhya range would float upon the sea.
