Now the section on company with the virtuous. / Righteousness without compassion, fame devoid of prudence, wealth for a reckless man, / poetry from someone lacking comparison, austerity empty of tranquility and self-restraint, learning for one of dull intellect, / vision of objects for a blind man, and meditation for one with an unsteady mind—these are desired / by that fool who, having abandoned the company of the virtuous, yearns for auspiciousness.
