jvālāyo'gnistāvatā yāvajjīryate sa ca hīrakaḥ
hīrake'nnapathe jīrṇe sarvavyāpī bhavedrasaḥ

<Importance of personal observation>
Even when taught directly by a guru, metallurgical alchemy is not accomplished / so long as the practical procedure is not witnessed two or three times beside the guru.
