sphāṭikāṃtāni ratnāni jīryaṃte cātivegataḥ
tataḥ koṭiguṇe jīrṇe śaṃkhavedhī bhavedrasaḥ

Even when taught directly by a guru, metallurgical alchemy is not accomplished / so long as the practical procedure is not witnessed two or three times beside the guru.
