kāṅkṣī kaṣāyā kaṭukāmlakaṇṭhyā keśyā vraṇaghnī viṣanāśinī ca /
śvitrāpahā netrahitā tridoṣaśāntipradā pāradajāriṇī ca //
Alum is astringent, pungent, sour, beneficial to the throat, good for the hair, ulcer-healing, and antitoxic, / dispelling leukoderma, beneficial to the eyes, bestowing alleviation of the three bodily humours, and a digester of mercury.
