2.9.10

sa rasastu varārohe vahnimadhye na tiṣṭhati /
na khoṭo na ca vā bhasma naiva dravyaṃ karoti saḥ //

That mercury, O woman of beautiful hips, does not endure within fire;
it is not a khoṭa, nor is it ash, nor does it create genuine substance.
