10.15

anyā jīvagatirdevi jīvo 'ṇḍādiva niṣkramet
sa tāvajjīvayejjīvaṃ tena jīvo rasaḥ smṛtaḥ //

There is another, the departure of the life-force, O Devī, as the life-force emerges from an egg;
it enlivens the soul for as long [as it lasts]; therefore mercury is called jīva ("life").
