jīrṇe pañcaguṇe devi brahmāyurjāyate rasaḥ
āyustu ṣaḍguṇe viṣṇoḥ koṭivedhī bhavedrasaḥ //
When fivefold has been digested, O goddess, the mercury attains the lifespan of Brahmā; / while with sixfold it attains the lifespan of Viṣṇu, and the mercury becomes capable of ten-millionfold transmutation.
