tasmin hy aty-artha-tīkṣṇoṣṇa-rūkṣā mārga-sva-bhāvataḥ |
āditya-pavanāḥ saumyān kṣapayanti guṇān bhuvaḥ || 3 ||

For in it, excessively sharp, hot, and dry by nature of the sun's path, / the sun and the wind deplete the cooling qualities of the earth;
