vṛṣyaḥ śīto 'sra-pitta-ghnaḥ svādu-pāka-raso rasaḥ |
so 'gre sa-lavaṇo danta-pīḍitaḥ śarkarā-samaḥ || 43 ||

It is aphrodisiac, cold, dispelling bleeding disorders, sweet in taste and post-digestive taste;
at its tip it is slightly salty, and when chewed with teeth it is equal to sugar.
