vakṣyante 'taḥ paraṃ doṣā vṛddhikṣayavibhedataḥ |

pṛthak trīn viddhi saṃsargastridhā tatra tu tānnava ||

Hereafter the doṣas will be stated according to the divisions of increase and decrease.

Know them singly as three; in their combinations (saṃsarga) as threefold, but nine in that respect;
